Dr. Katherine Edgecombe

Calgary Chiropractor

Dr. Katherine Edgecombe is an evidence-based chiropractor and acupuncture provider here at National Spine & Wellness. She grew up in rural Newfoundland and left the province at the age of 16 to pursue her passion for competitive hockey at the Ontario Hockey Academy in Cornwall. From this opportunity, she was recruited by the Saint Mary’s University Women’s hockey team in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology. She then received a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto, Ontario. Dr. Edgecombe performed well with high academic (Dean’s List) and athletic standing both at Saint Mary’s and CMCC. During her studies at CMCC, she took an emergency first responders’ course and has worked on the bench with various Toronto Titan hockey teams covering season games and tournaments.

Her physical and academic development has played a huge role in her growth and career aspirations. Dr. Edgecombe is very interested in human biology, human kinetics, sports medicine, and injury prevention and treatment. She has also reaped the benefits of chiropractic care and treatment of her own sports-related injuries. As a result, Dr. Edgecombe believes that physical activity and exercise in conjunction with proactive elements of chiropractic treatment can benefit a patient’s overall quality of life. Her experience in sport and education naturally allowed her to adopt and maintain a structured workout and nutritional regiment. Dr. Edgecombe values the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition and physical activity. In her leisure time, she continues to play hockey along with weight training, running, hiking, cooking, and spending time with family. She continues to work as an emergency first responder in the Calgary area, covering hockey games where needed.

Dr. Edgecombe assesses and treats a variety of musculoskeletal conditions using contemporary research and manual therapy techniques, including spinal manipulation, myofascial release, acupuncture, rehabilitation exercises, and lifestyle modifications. Through an individualized, hands-on approach to care, patients can experience reduced pain, optimize injury recovery, achieve functional mobility, and increase strength.

As a new Calgarian, Dr. Edgecombe is excited to share her knowledge and passion for healthy living with members of her community. Working with the team at National Spine & Wellness allows her to collaborate with other health-care professions and ensure patients receive appropriate, high-quality care.
