Neck Pain

Are You Experiencing Neck Pain in Calgary?

Are you looking for a solution to your neck pain in Calgary? National Spine & Wellness is here to help.

Our commitment is to answer three fundamental questions clearly during your first assessment.

  1. What is causing my neck pain? This is your diagnosis.
  2. Can you help me? This is your care plan. We will lay that out in clear and concise terms if we treat this. If this is something other than what we treat, but we know who does, we can also get you going in that direction.
  3. How long will it take for me to get better? This is the prognosis. Any good care plan must include a timeframe for significant improvement.

Does This Sound Like You?

Do you have persistent or recurrent neck pain and headaches? Have you sought relief through chiropractic adjustments, IMS dry needling from a physiotherapist, or massage therapy? While these treatments may have provided some relief, do you find that the pain keeps returning and that you don’t experience the same level of comfort as before? If you’re experiencing this, it could be due to an undiagnosed weakness in your neck.

Causes of Neck Pain

As far back as 2002, we were involved in research studies that indicated that persistent or recurrent neck pain could be due to undiagnosed underlying neck weakness. The research demonstrated significant improvement in chronic neck pain following treatment with the Multi-Cervical Unit (MCU) to address underlying neck weakness.

Rehabilitation often involves rebuilding the strength of injured body parts such as knees, hips, shoulders, and backs. However, the neck has received the same attention just now.

Your neck muscles protect the neck’s underlying ligaments, bones, and nerves. If these muscles are weak, they offer less protection and can cause pain. Have you ever experienced muscle pain after resuming exercise after a long break? Similarly, if your neck is more fragile than it should be, it can quickly fatigue during everyday activities, leading to muscle pain.

Chiropractors, physiotherapists, or massage therapists can relieve muscle pain but cannot rebuild your strength. After resuming your activities, your muscles must work again, leading to fatigue and pain. By taking a simple 30-minute test on the MCU, you can determine if your neck is weak and take appropriate measures to strengthen it.

MCU™ Multi-Cervical Unit is considered the most effective and complete system for assessing and rehabilitating patients suffering from neck pain, whiplash-associated disorders (WAD), and general cervical spine disorders. The MCU is a technology-based machine designed to objectively evaluate and treat chronic neck pain and related conditions.

National Spine & Wellness’ 3 Step Treatment Plan

Our care involves the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders
of the muscles, bones, and joints, especially the spine. Your first visit to National
Spine & Wellness is dedicated to learning about the history of your pain and how
it impacts your daily life.

The information we gather during your initial assessment is used to create a 3-
step treatment plan.

Step One: Pain Relief

Did you know that manual therapy is one of only very few treatments science has proven to be the most effective for relieving your back and neck pain? Our team are experts at this treatment but also understand that this isn’t all you may need to get better.

They also work collaboratively with your health care team to get you out of pain and get you moving in a safe, controlled fashion.

Step Two: Rebuild Strength & Agility

Ask yourself, if you were 100% what would you be doing?

That is the question we put to you first and foremost so we can customize your treatment plan.

Once your pain begins to go away we empower you to gain the knowledge, understanding, and tools to build your resiliency to get back to the activities you love.

Step Three: Maintain & Improve

By using a wellness model customized to your specific needs, we can give you the knowledge and tools to maintain and improve your health in a wellness model. Once the problem that was causing your symptoms is corrected, we will also work with you to learn ways to prevent the pain from returning.

The goal of our care is to offer preventative maintenance for pain-free living.
